Emergency Book Loan Program
  The money for this loan is made possible by the purchase of your Student Advantage Card Visit http://www.cuesta.edu/campus/lead/picid.htm to learn more about the benefits of purchasing a Student Advantage Card!
  LOAN TYPE:   Emergency Loan that allows the borrower up to $300.00 Line-of-Credit at the bookstore to be utilized ONLY for books and supplies.
  IMPORTANT DATES:   January 11th, 2012:
Book Loan Program Opens  

January 31st, 2012:
Last day to use book loan at the bookstore

January 24th, 2012:

last day to return books with a refund

 

March 20th, 2012 -Due Date

Book Loan must be repaid to Cuesta College in full

  HOW TO APPLY:   Complete an Emergency Book Loan Application available in the Financial Aid Office. The loan application will be honored at the Cuesta College Bookstore for the first three weeks of the semester only.

QUALIFICATIONS: Student must have a verifiable emergency that constitute the need of this loan

1.        Have an emergency situation.

2.        Pay your current semester student ID card.  

3.        Enrolled in 6 units or more 

4.        Have filed FAFSA

5.        Agree to have Title IV forms to Accept status

6.        Have not had a book loan in the past year.     

7.        Never been late repaying previous book loan. Agree to repay loan on or before the due date.

8.        You will need cosigner if you haven’t filed a FAFSA, not employed, or have no sources of income.    

9.     Turned in all your missing financial aid document to our office.

Priority is given to students who will NOT have a grant or loans available on the first check disbursement of the semester. “YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAYMENT OF THIS LOAN EVEN IF YOUR AID IS NOT AWARDED BEFORE THE DUE DATE.”

COSIGNER QUALIFICATIONS: Has a permanent address different from yours

Has a stable source of income from:

bulletFull-time employment
bulletBusiness ownership
bulletRetirement/investments

Is willing to repay the loan amount if the student is unable to pay.

  COSIGNER QUALIFICATION MAY BE WAIVED IF:   Student has a confirmed "future" Financial Aid grant award. (You are responsible for repayment of this loan even if your aid is not awarded before the due date.)

Student has a previous Emergency Book Loan that was repaid on time within the last five years.

Student is employed on campus and has a supervisor's initials on the application verifying employment dates.

Student is waiting for a confirmed VA benefit check and has the Cuesta VA Coordinator's initials confirming the awards.

EXTENSIONS: THERE ARE NO EXTENSIONS- Due Date For ALL book loans for Spring 2012 is

IF YOU DO NOT PAY BY DUE DATE:   Prevents you from registering for the following semester(s),

Places a hold on all Cuesta transactions,

You will be ineligible for future book loans.

Unpaid debt is submitted to the Chancellors Office Tax Offset Program (COTOP). This is a California State Collection program.  

PAYMENT INFORMATION:   Payments may be made directly to the Bookstore at either campus during the first three weeks of the semester.

THEREAFTER: Payment must be made DIRECTLY to the Cashier’s Office at either campus.

DO NOT MAIL PAYMENTS TO THE NORTH COUNTY CAMPUS!
